Rangers beat Glory Sky by 5-2 in their last home game of the season with two goals from both Jordi Tarres and Ip Chung-long and one goal from Denis Lima. Glory Sky’s fantastic Everton Carmago also got two goals to his name, but was powerless to prevent Glory Sky from losing.

Rangers made only one change compared to last week’s FA Cup line-up against South China. Wong Chun-hin replaced Hui Ka-lok as winger. Meanwhile 36-year-old Jordi Tarres continued as Rangers’ captain, partnering with Denis Lima in the attack.

Glory Sky made two changes to last week’s lineup, when they took on Southern. Cheng Siu-kwan replaced Mirko Teodorovic in the holding midfield position and midfielder Lau Tsz-kin replaced Tsui Wan-kit, as Glory Sky change to a 4-3-3 formation.

Just 30 seconds after kick-off, Yoon Dong-hun found Everton Camargo with a long pass from the own half and the Brazilian striker went past Felix Luk to put the ball into the back of the net. However, Glory Sky’s lead lasted less than a minute. A failed clearance by Lilley Vas Núñez allowed Jordi to level the score from close-range, and just 3 minutes later, Denis Lima put Rangers in the lead from a Cheung Kin-fung corner, after keeper Wong Tse-yeung’s failed to control the ball.

Glory Sky’s poor defence allowed Rangers to have a number of chances. In the 8th minute, Jordi set up Wong Chun-hin right through the middle of the defence. Law Chun-yan scored in the ensuing chaos, but Jordi was ruled offside in the build up. The Spanish skipper also had a shot from outside the box in the 14th minute, but his attempt was easily saved by Wong Tse-yeung.

Nevertheless, Glory Sky found back into the game and levelled the score in the 27th minute. Everton robbed Law Chun-yan after a throw-in, cut into the box from the right side and scored with a curling shot to the far post. Rangers pressed higher and dominated the midfield in the remainder of the first half. In the 32nd minute, a through-ball by Ip Chung-long found Lima in the box, but he hesitated and missed the chance to put Rangers back in the lead. However, just a few moments later he made up for this mistake. This time it was Lima setting up Ip Chung-long, who scored with a fierce shot from outside the box. Glory Sky had a chance to level the score in injury time, but Miovic’s header following a corner by Yoon was well saved by Felix Luk.

Both sides started a bit slowly into the second half, with no real highlights until the 64th minute, when Camargo’s long-range effort was saved by Felix Luk. Glory Sky had a great chance to level in the 66th minute. Lau Kwun-pong’s through-ball found Lee Gil-hoon in the box, but his shot was blocked by Felix Luk. Everton’s freekick in the 74th minute went just wide of the post.

Glory Sky continued to press for a goal, but at the same time Rangers managed a few threatening counter-attacks, which also led to another goal in the 77th minute. Law Chun-yan’s overhead pass found Jordi in the box who then increased Rangers’ lead to two. Eventually, Ip Chung-long delivered a cross which was deflected and went past Wong Tse-yeung in the 89th minute, making the final scoreline 5-2. Jordi even had the chance to get a hat-trick in the second half, but his shot in injury time was blocked by Wong Tse-yeung.
