On a rainy weekend the 8 remaining Premier League clubs faced each other in the Senior Shield quarter finals.
In what could be called a relatively uneventful game, Kitchee beat Pegasus FC 1-0 at Mong Kok Stadium on October 3rd, with midfielder Huang Yang releasing his team mates with a goal in the 88th minute. Later that day, Southern thrashed Wong Tai Sin 5-1 at Tsing Yi Sports Ground, where James Ha scored twice for his club.
With typhoon signal no. 3 hoisted on Sunday, most of the local games were called off, but the Senior Shield quarter finals still went ahead. South China had a rather easy time with Yuen Long, celebrating a clear-cut 4-0 victory over the boys from the New Territories. Meanwhile, Eastern striker Andrew Barisic scored both goals against Ricardo Rambo’s Rangers and made sure that his club stays in the race to defend last year’s Senior Shield title.
The competition will now stay on hold until the Christmas holidays: On December 26th, Kitchee will play against Southern District, and on December 27th South China will take on their old rival Eastern. Both semi finals will be played at Mong Kok Stadium, while the grand finale on January 24th is supposed to take place at Hong Kong Stadium.
