Pegasus were founded in 2008 as Tin Shui Wai Pegasus (TSW Pegasus) with the help of former South China chairman Steven Lo. Given his involvement and the acquisition of several former Caroliners, Pegasus were soon dubbed as the “South China B Team”. This also laid the foundation for an exciting rivalry between the two teams and their derby has become one of the league highlights over the last years. After the 2011/12 season, the club was taken over by Sun International Group, which is listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and has also been involved in the local horse racing-market (in fact, equine business is part of its current company portfolio). Since then, Sun Pegasus continued to claim its spot among Hong Kong’s “Big Four” (along with Kitchee, Eastern and South China), especially in terms of its financial potency. However, after dropping “Tin Shui Wai” from the club name, they also lost their affiliation with the local community of the satellite town in the New Territories, where most of its previous youth development work was situated. Soon after, Sun Pegasus moved to Mong Kok Stadium, where they ground-shared with Kitchee. Although the team finished 3rd in the inaugural Premier League season and only lost momentum after an inspiring series of victories, they failed to live up to the wide-spread expectations that the side would gain their first trophy.
In May 2015, Sun International decided to withdraw their sponsorship from the club, and for a while their future seemed uncertain. Eventually, Steven Lo’s wife Canny Leung formed a consortium to take over and Hong Kong Pegasus FC was born, winning both the FA Cup and Sapling Cup in the 2015/16 season. The side will be looking to improve on their league position this year, however, after finishing in a disappointing 8th position last season.
① With some big name signings over the summer, the team will no doubt aiming to attain a place in an AFC competition this year after a disappointing previous season.
② After having gained tremendous support in the Tin Shui Wai and Mong Kok areas, they now ply their trade at Hong Kong Stadium in order to appeal to a wider fan base to facilitate their lofty ambitions. Those living around the Central area of Hong Kong Island will find access to the ground to be readily available.
③ They are a club who pride themselves on their youth work, and have been part of many initiatives to help young people in Hong Kong become more involved in football.
Tickets cost $80 and can be purchased at the ticketing office next to the main entry gates. Merchandise can be purchased on match days outside of the ground.

A tall and dangerous Spanish striker with plenty of goals throughout his career, he is seen by many as being the signing of the summer so far. Having previously played for Tondela in the Portuguese top flight whilst also notching up several appearances for Barcelona B last year, it is clear that Pegasus will very much be a force to be reckoned with this season.
