Eastern SC is the winner of Hong Kong’s 2014/15 Senior Shield, but the victory only came after a dramatic match against Kitchee on 17 January 2015. With several disputable referee decisions and a finish on the brink of a last minute equalizer, the game was more than worthy of being a cup final. Another bright side on this sunny Saturday afternoon: more than 6,000 fans came to fill the ranks at Hong Kong Stadium.
While this attendance is certainly good news for Hong Kong, the overall atmosphere in a 40K capacity venue might still not be ideal. We hope that we could see some of these important games in places like the beloved Mong Kok Stadium, because at the end of the day, there is nothing that would beat a sold-out Senior Shield final…
